Bansky exhibition in Palermo: Ritratto di Ignoto. L’artista chiamato Bansky

The exhibition dedicated to the mysterious artist from Bristol, which will take place from 7 October 2020 to 17 January 2021, starts from the element of anonymity to build a narrative that looks at Sicilian heritage

After the traveling exhibition that touched Palazzo Ducale in Genoa and Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara, the most famous street artist in the world is on display (but obviously, as always, the exhibition is not authorized by the artist) in Palermo in a double appointment, housed in the Loggiato San Bartolomeo and Palazzo Trinacria.

Ritratto di Ignoto. L’artista chiamato Bansky, curated by Gianluca Marziani, Stefano Antonelli and Acoris Andipa marks the beginning of a path for the creation of a new cultural district, which sees the realities of the Sant’Elia Foundation and the Pietro Barbaro Foundation in the front row for relaunch of the ancient Kalsa, a district characterized by a stratification of cultures – starting with the Arab one. At the Kalsa there is also Palazzo Butera, home to the Francesca and Massimo Valsecchi Collection.

It is Portrait of the Unknown, an iconic work by Antonello da Messina: the mystery that hovers around the man portrayed in the painting mixes with that of Banksy, whose face no one knows and of whom no photos are circulating.

Perhaps precisely by virtue of this anonymity, Banksy has managed to convey his ethical and pacifist message all over the world.

Over 100 original pieces will give life to the Portrait of the Ritratto di Ignoto. L’artista chiamato Bansky (Unknown exhibition. The artist called Banksy). These are freehand paintings from the very early period, the serigraphs that Banksy considers serial craftsmanship to spread his messages.
