Until 14 July in Mantua the exhibition Braque vis-à-vis Picasso, Matisse, Duchamp, which continues the exhibition activity dedicated to the art of the twentieth century in Palazzo della Ragione.
Curated by Michele Dantini, it is promoted by the Municipality of Mantua and organized and produced with the Electa publishing house, with the participation of the Kunstmuseum Pablo Picasso Munster.
In the large hall of the Palazzo della Ragione, about 150 works dating back to the period between the two wars and the post-war period are presented. Thanks to a large body of graphic works, together with books by artists and ceramics, from the Kunstmuseum Pablo Picasso Munster, the exhibition investigates the often neglected influence that Braque has exerted on French art of the Sixties and Seventies.
The route is enriched with gouaches owned by the Musée des Beaux-Arts of Belfort, a tapestry in wool and cotton of the Cité international de la tapisserie of Aubusson and some oils from European institutions, including the Fondation Marguerite et Aimé Maeght of Saint-Paul-de-Vence and the Museo del Novecento in Milan. Also on display are works by Matisse, Picasso, Derain, Léger and Delaunay-Terk.
