“Give” the new creation of Lorenzo Quinn

For a month, ‘Give’ the latest creation by the sculptor Lorenzo Quinn, known for his large installations of hands, will be previewed in the Boboli Gardens.

It is a gift from the artist and his gallery to the city of Pietrasanta, where it will be installed in the International Sculpture Park in September and where it will be part of a UN project against climate change.

Quinn, known to the general public for the hands installed on the Grand Canal in Venice in 2017 during the Art Biennale, returns to explore the meanings of his favorite subject.

The new work, exhibited with the contribution of the Geneva Olivetti Rason Foundation, symbolizes the sense of giving without receiving.

According to the artist, the inspiration came from the relationship between humanity, the world and in particular the nature that has always given and continues to give without demanding anything in return.

Lorenzo Quinn created the sculpture in resin and recycled material, in order to convey a message based on environmental sustainability. The hand of a man joins that of a woman to underline the value of giving. The work is the bearer of a message of peace addressed to humanity and symbolized by an olive tree.
