The exhibition Vanitas of the artist Antonio Guccione, a vernissage presented by the curator Roberto Papini, will be inaugurated on January 16th at 6.00 pm, in the Salotto di Milano in Via della Spiga 2.
Vanitas is a project started in 2008 in continuous evolution, the artist experiments in the photographs and portraits intensely pictorial the application of different materials so as to create a sort of poetic fairy tale.
In Vanitas the skulls are also neopop portraits, exhibited in a project that goes from the skull of Mussolini to that of Leonardo Da Vinci, from that of Jesus to end with that of Frida Kahlo.
Antonio Guccione has lived in different cities of the world.
In London I started to create still-life for fashion, I did not understand that work but that’s where I realized that I was really interested in photography. I returned to Milan and opened a studio in via Cellini. The first customer? Guccio Gucci paid me a million lire and went on enthusiastically. The second office in a little village in Via Pisacane, Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli arrived. My images were controversial, unique, what fascinated Gianni Versace for whom I created his portrait-symbol
With the projects «Dressing up Milan» and «Fashion and Faces» he «dressed» the city through icons such as Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce, Donatella Versace, Alberta Ferretti, Valentino, Franca Sozzani, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Roberto Bolle, Leonardo Mondadori or Gae Aulenti.
