Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday

In an astonishing and playful collaboration, Marcel Wanders and Leblon Delienne came together to give a playful and innovative touch to one of the most celebrated Disney characters in the history of pop culture, Mickey Mouse. Both parties are known to push the limits of creativity and originality and this extraordinary design is no exception.

In the occasion of Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday, the two powerhouses joined forces where Wanders give a personalized touch to the iconic figure. This design was entirely made by hand in Leblon Delienne’s historic workshop in Normandy, France.

The Dutch designer accepted this challenge by adding a certain touch of extravagance, as the brand explains, “Marcel Wanders brings a very personal touch by reinterpreting Delft blue in a contemporary and even abstract world that characterizes him and thus paints Mickey in resin with bare hands. Through this creative process, both sensory and artisan, he reveals his own interpretation of this imaginary icon.”

Resin was the main material used to create this piece. However, Wanders gave it a refined yet humoristic look by completing the character’s nose in a chrome gold finish.

This abstract piece stands nearly 55 inches tall and is limited to only eight editions. As a whole, One Minute Mickey combines the extraordinary craftsmanship of Leblon Delienne, the expertise and off-beat style of Wanders and the whimsical essence of Disney.
