Mauro Bergonzoli exhibition at Schloss-Tratzberg in Tyrol

When Neo-Pop art becomes a salvific language.

Italian Neo-Pop artist Mauro Bergonzoli will exhibit at Schloss Tratzberg from 12 to 31 May. A unique venue that welcomes one of the best-known artists of these years. In May, two old Austrian noble families will meet in a new art exhibition at Schloss-Tratzberg in Tyrol: the Counts Fugger and the Counts Goess-Enzenberg. But their love of art and culture is not the only thing that connects the two noble houses-after all, they once shared this one castle as owner families. Today’s Renaissance jewel in the Tyrolean Lower Inn Valley, which had to be completely rebuilt after a destructive fire around 1500, changed its occupants several times over the centuries through marriage, and from 1589 to 1660 it thus also came into the family possession of Franziska Countess Fugger-Babenhausen, curator of the art exhibition.

In 1730, the castle changed hands again and has been home to the current Count Goess-Enzenberg family ever since. They opened the castle to the public 30 years ago and still today offer adults and children the magic of immersing themselves in times long past through a fairy-tale audio tour. With the help of financial support from the media and tourist interest in their exceptional home, the family is preserving this historical heritage.

During the pandemic throughout 2 years, they decided to undertake an elaborate restoration of the unique courtyard paintings, which was once commissioned under Georg Ilsung. However, it is thanks to the Counts Fugger (formerly also co-owners of the silver mine in Schwaz) that the famous fresco paintings were once completed around 1600. Therefore, it is a small historical event for both families to be united once again under the same castle roof in artistic interest.

Mauro Bergonzoli’s exhibition

The Italian Artist Mauro Bergonzoli was born in Milan on December 24th, 1965. In his father’s engraving studio, he learned the craft of precision and draftsmanship as a young boy. At the age of 14, his teacher discovered his extraordinary artistic talent. Soon he was sent to art school and began selling his comics and artwork. Bergonzoli was quickly recruited by advertising agencies in Milan. A 25-year-long career as creative director in commercial and animation films for companies like Ferrero and Geox followed. Bergonzoli finally broke free in 2000 to dedicate himself exclusively to the creation of his original artwork. The exhibition will open to the public from 12 to 31 May and Excellence Magazine is proud to be part of this project as Media Partner. Excellence magazine is pleased to join the Austrian market and cooperate with this country for its activities.
