THE VIEW Lugano meet the artist Lorenzo Quinn

On the 11th April, THE VIEW Lugano will host its next prestigious cultural event of the initiative “Due chiacchiere con …”, meaning “a chat with ….”. Following the success of the the evening dedicated to film, with guest stars Enrico Vanzina and Isabella Ferrari from the World of Italian Cinema, this next event will be dedicated to the World of Art and will host special guest, artist Lorenzo Quinn. The evening will be accompanied as always, by Chef Mauro Grandi’s delicious gastronomic experience.

Once again, this event will provide an insight into the life and experiences of our guest. Lorenzo Quinn is internationally renowned as one of the great sculptors of our time, his works have been at the centre of many exhibitions over the past 20 years and are in many private collections all over the world.

Among his many works, the monumental sculpture presented at the last Venice Biennale, “Support” stands out. Two giant hands emerge from the Grand Canal to protect and support the historic building of the Ca ‘Sagredo Hotel: “our hands can destroy the world but can also save it”. This impressive work symbolizes the threat of climate change, and in this case the imminent danger of this climate change to the survival of a unique historical place, an important part of the heritage of humanity “Venice has inspired culture for centuries, but in order for it to continue to do so in the future, it needs our support and that of the next generations”, explains the artist, son of the famous actor Anthony Quinn. Lorenzo Quinn has a deep emotional bond with the Serenissima, as Venice is also known: both his mother and his wife were born there.

The powerful visual and emotional impact of the installation demonstrates the sculptor’s artistic growth and his desire to experiment with mediums and subjects, transmitting his passion for eternal values and the most authentic feelings.

Oscar di Montigny, director of marketing, innovation and training at Banca Mediolanum and author of the novel “Il Tempo dei Nuovi Eroi” which he presented last year during the literary month at THE VIEW Lugano, will be leading the evening.

Mauro Grandi, the talented Chef of the gourmet THE VIEW Fine Dining Restaurant, will as always delight guests with his cuisine, bringing together tradition, innovation and locally sourced ingredients in perfect harmony. The exclusive evening will begin with a Champagne cocktail followed by a 4 course seated dinner at THE VIEW Fine Dining Restaurant with its unique view of the bay of Lugano. The evening will also offer plenty of opportunities to meet our special guests, Lorenzo Quinn and Oscar di Montigny in person.
