Chanel opens the new year with a new important acquisition and thus reiterates its desire to better monitor the top of watchmaking.
The maison has in fact acquired a participation of Kenissi, a new factory of Swiss automatic movements.
The strategy of improving the luxury brand in terms of calibers, begun in 1993 with the purchase of G & F Châtelain Manufacture based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, testifies to the mission of Chanel to provide its timepieces mechanical movements built following the highest quality standards.
Since 2016 watches Chanel has developed three entirely new Haute Horlogerie manufacturing gauges. The first, Caliber 1, feeds the Monsieur first watch designed exclusively for men by the Maison of Gabrielle Boneaur.
Also just a few months ago Chanel also bought a stake of F.P. Journe, absolutely one of the best Haute Horlogerie brands. Returning to Kenissi today, the manufactory produces automatic movements that stand out for reliability and high performance.
The newly acquired watchmaking brand will move to Le Locle in 2021.
Chanel also said that in Basel 2019, his new collection will be debuted by newly acquired Kenissi Swiss movements.
