The 3rd Annual Sohn Monaco Investment Conference gathered renowned hedge fund and asset managers to discuss their most compelling investment ideas on Thursday 6 June at the Monaco Yacht Club.

Excellence Magazine was one of the media partner of the event, bringing its contribution in terms of dissemination and promotion of the topics covered during the important conference.

The conference saw a crowd of investment professionals, asset allocators and private investors come to the Principality from across the globe. Speakers covered a diverse set of topics, including stock picks and credit strategies, and their reasons behind those ideas.

Guido Maria Brera of Kairos Partners presented arguments about the potential in Fila, a neglected growth story despite digitalisation.

Jean Castellini, Minister of Finance and Economy for the Principality of Monaco, highlighted the increasing focus of the Principality’s Reserve Fund towards investing in an inclusive way.

Jian Shi Cortesi of GAM provided an overview of the Chinese internet ADR price cycle and proposed invesWng in a basket of such stocks including  JD.com, NetEase, Weibo, Ctrip.com, TAL Educational Group and iQIYI.

Adrian Courtenay of Odey Asset Management discussed the significant upside in Plug Power shares, given the potenWal of the hydrogen fuel cell industry.

Steffen Dietel of Altana Wealth talked about the substanWal upside in Tidewater shares stemming from the company’s post Chapter 11 balance sheet advantage.

Dr. Giulia Nobili of SSVL elaborated on the abractive characteristics of Cramo Adapteo’s modular space business, which will spin off next month.

Alexander Paulick of Tavira Group explained why Carillion’s debt is undervalued and benefits from abractive risk-to-reward abributes.

Rory Powe of Man GLG presented the investment case for SAP based on strong free cash flow expansion.


Jeremy Touboul of H2O Asset Management discussed the psychology of financial markets and Elliob wave theory with applications to the US 5-year yield and S&P 500.

Prof. Gilles Vassal, Head of Clinical Research at Gustave Roussy, explained the lack of funding available for pediatric cancer research and how donations from the Sohn Conference Foundation are helping to address this issue through initiatives such as pediatric strategy forums, which bring together regulators, pharmaceutical companies, patient advocates and others to accelerate innovation.

Zhang Zhang, founder of ZhangoMusic, treated the audience to a violin performance and explained how the concerts she organises can bring together commercial and charitable interests.

The proceeds raised through the generosity of the Sohn Monaco Investment Conference’s sponsors, donors and participants, support research and treatment programs at scientific and technological institute INSERM, the University Hospital Center of Nice and Innovative Therapies for Children with Cancer in Paris.
