The conference “Luino, 350 years of tourism history. From the petit tour of the three lakes to the Locarno-Milan-Venice waterway. Between culture, management and law”, in its fourth edition, will take place in Luino, at Palazzo Verbania on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 at 4.00 p.m.

The meeting, with partners such as Regione Lombardia, IULM and Genoa University, Centro del Mare, enjoys the support of GIST (the Italian Tourist Press Group), Pro Loco of Luino, the Training Agency of the Province of Varese, Rotary Club Laveno Luino Alto Verbano, Lions Club Luino, with Locarno – Venice, Idrovolo, Amici del Liceo, Festival del Teatro e della Comeità, and Fioridea Luino, Oldani Camiceria, Cantine Bottenago and 12 Sport Club.
Luca Sartorio, jurist, founder & CEO of the Grand Luino group, promoter of the tourism development and territorial regeneration program “Lake Maggiore 2030”, chairs the works moderated by Silvestro Pascarella, Director of the newspaper “La Prealpina”.
After the introduction by Simona Fontana, President of the Sempiterne, the first part will take place concerning the “Rediscovery of waterways and infrastructural coordination for the tourist development of Lake Maggiore”. History, culture, tools. The speeches will concern “The first navigation line on Lake Maggiore (1826), large-scale tourist itineraries” by Federico Crimi and “Waterway and boats”, Professor Ivan Zignego (University of Genoa), with “The rediscovery of seaplanes”, Bernardo Tomea (Audendum).

Followed by “The tourist destination Luino. Territorial identity, potential and positioning, strategies and actors of Governance with the presentation of the results from the research commissioned by Grand Luino Hotel and Grand Luino, by the IULM University of Milan.
Subsequently, “Urban regeneration”. Problems and perspectives in the bill under discussion in the Italian Parliament. The case of brownfield areas on Lake Maggiore. In this session, a round table with politicians and experts will be held with the intervention of Professor Alessandro Bianchi, urban planner, former Minister of Transport, co-author of the book “Regenerating the Belpaese” (2021).
