In Lausanne the major event of contemporary design.
Design Days, the largest contemporary design event in French-speaking Switzerland, will celebrate design from June 6th to 9th, 2024. The 15th edition will take place in Lausanne with emerging and established design and fashion labels, conferences, exhibitions, installations, workshops, and seminars, as well as gastronomic meals on the train tracks. It is a not-to-be-missed event highlighting the vitality of Swiss design.
This year, for the first time, Design Days takes over the ephemeral site of La Rasude, nestled between the SBB train tracks and the former post office sorting center. This is an exceptional opportunity to showcase the very best in design and innovation in this brutalist architectural setting, in the heart of Lausanne.
Between art and design, furniture and lighting, fashion and accessories, robotics and gastronomy, new and innovative projects will be unveiled. It is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in contemporary design and creation.
A preview of the program
Fashion and Accessories
This year marks the return of fashion to Design Days, thanks to Swiss Fashion Point, which will be offering an exhibition and sale featuring a selection of around twenty Swiss designers. It is a unique opportunity to discover and support local creativity.
Use rather than Own
The result of a collaboration between Freitag and ECAL, the Access over Ownership project is making its Swiss premiere at Design Days. It is a collection of practical, eco-responsible objects available for borrowing, emphasizing access to goods over ownership.
Art and Robotics
As part of an EPFL project on the aesthetics of robotics, designer Léa Pereyre presents a series of paper costumes designed for the Thymio robot and offers robot-dressing workshops to help visitors discover another form of poetry through technology.
How will we live?
By 2050, the population aged over 60 will have almost doubled, according to the WHO (World Health Organization). For the first time, Design Days will host several projects addressing the needs of older users, far from the stereotypes usually associated with this category.
Horgenglarus x Herzog & de Meuron
Switzerland’s oldest chair manufacturer, Horgenglarus, presents a new product: the Belair chair designed by the archi-stars Herzog & de Meuron.
The Next Generation
As usual, a fine lineup of emerging designers will be on hand. With over forty young designers presenting their projects in fashion, accessories, and objects, there will be much to explore.
Batiplus Café
The main partner of this year’s event, Batiplus, is creating a special Design Days café and a lounge area to welcome visitors in a cozy and stylish environment.
Design Dinners
For the first time, Design Days offers a unique gourmet experience where design and gastronomy meet, with meals organized directly on the tracks by renowned chefs.
From June 6 to 9, the heart of design will be beating at La Rasude – Lausanne!
