As is known, waste avoidance is now one of the most common best practices in sustainability, but the world of luxury has also been exploring more and more solutions to foster values like environmental respect and compatibility.

One of these is the second-life service for vintage luxury bags promoted by Farfetch, an initiative that keeps and reinstates the brand’s commitment to sustainable fashion.

Originally started in the United Kingdom, the project is now also available on Farfetch’s website in Italy and the United States, and looking to expand globally.

Certified reselling allows everyone to sell their own luxury bags by Gucci, Fendi and Prada on Farfetch’s website. Once verified and certified by experts, these designer pieces will be resold and given a longer life.

Second Life is an anti-waste solution for buyers that benefits sellers as well: they will just have to go to the website, add a brief description of the bag with one or more pictures, and in two days, experts from Farfetch will make an offer in the form of credits to be redeemed online.

When the offer is accepted, these credits will be made available to sellers, and an operator will collect their vintage bag directly at home.

The project is part of the Positively Farfetch mission. In the past year only, the company took several actions to support sustainability, including the Farfetch Donate service in partnership with Thrift+, allowing consumers to donate unused clothes and accessories in exchange for Farfetch credits.
