Hermès is on its way to enter the beauty segment. After a few years of planning, the Parisian luxury group is now ready to debut in the make-up universe with a first big launch scheduled for 2020. “A fine project which fits the Hermès spirit”, the French maison commented.
The luxury fashion brand has been looking for new spaces to grow, and is now ready to take faster steps in the beauty sector. The project is led by Alex Dumas, the Group CEO, as he emphasized in an interview with French Le Monde last April
Our long-term plan is to be active in all three segments of the beauty market ̶perfumes, make-up and skincare. This will give us a strong distribution presence
Last weekend, both the project and the launch date were confirmed by Hermès’s second-in-command Guillaume de Seyne in Rome, at the “Hermès dietro le quinte” exhibition (“Hermès behind the scenes”) running until March 16 at the Ara Pacis Museum.
Through the years, Hermès has been consolidating their business in the fragrance sector, writing the label’s history since the 1930s.
It is with this mind that in 2004, Jean-Claude Ellena was appointed as their exclusive in-house perfumer, a position he held until 2016, when he handed the baton over to Christine Nagel. As the “director of creation and olfactory heritage of Hermès Parfums”, she has just unveiled her latest fragrance “Un Jardin Sur La Lagune”.
