Another example set by luxury giant LVMH as the group announces they will contribute 10 million Euros to help fight the massive wildfires that have been ravaging the Amazon rainforest for days and devouring the so-called “Lungs of the World”.
The donation exceeds by more than half the offer made by French president Emmanuel Macron and the other world powers involved in the Biarritz G7 (which amounted to around 20 million dollars). During the summit, by signing the Fashion Pact, fashion leaders committed to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion supply chain. Yet LVMH will not be a part of it.
Protecting the environment is not just about words and speeches or signing declarations of principle
said Yann Arthus-Bertrand, member of the LVMH Boardof Directors
It also requires taking concrete collective actions when dangers arise in order to provide resources for local specialists and work together to save our planet. I am proud that LVMH is participating in this emergency effort and I hope that many others will follow suit
“This initiative,” continues the press release, “reflects recognition of this responsibility by the LVMH Group, which is also engaged alongside UNESCO in protecting biodiversity across the planet.”
