Luxury and sustainability in the heart of Swedish Lapland

Sara Kulturhus, this is the name of the largest cultural center ever built on the edge of the world.

The building will be made entirely of wood and aims to break all records.

It will become part of the list of the tallest wooden buildings in the world and will host a cultural hub and a luxury hotel.

Luxury and wood: a new challenge

Sara Kulturhus will represent the new frontier of eco-sustainable luxury.

Set in the evocative setting of the typically Nordic landscapes of Lapland, the hotel will welcome guests in luxurious rooms and suites.

There will also be a Spa, a gym, an incredible panoramic restaurant and a splendid terrace, with open views of the landscape.

The hotel, like the cultural hub, will be completely eco-sustainable: the construction materials will make it completely zero-emission. Solar panels and energy efficiency will be the basis of the eco-sustainable project.

The wood, the main material of Sara Kulturhus, comes from the region’s sustainable boreal forests. This means that for each tree felled it was then replaced with a new trunk.

Sara Kulturhus: homage to the writer

The name of the building, which aims to become a true emblem of sustainable luxury, is a tribute to Sara Lidman, a Swedish writer originally from Skellefteå, the city where the building will rise.

Not just luxury hotels: the town of Swedish Lapland, inspired by Sara Lidman, has also chosen to host an innovative cultural hub.

In the rooms of the Sara Kulturhus workshops, exhibitions, shows and conferences will come to life in a completely eco-sustainable location.

Skellefteå is a town far from mass tourism: those who reach it look for a real contact with nature and a real reconnection with the environment. Relaxation, walks, nature and sport are the watchwords of these places.

Going to the far north of Europe for an alternative trip and being housed in a luxurious and sustainable building could become the real, new frontier of green luxury tourism.

A journalist ever since, I love turning the world's events into sentences and lines that can take readers "inside the news", leading them to explore the current happenings with me through my articles. My professional background has allowed me to gain insights into the encounter of two apparently incompatible worlds: luxury and sustainability. Guiding businesses in this direction as a communication manager and event organizer has made me aware that, now more than ever, it is by respecting ourselves and our planet's resources that we should start to create real value.
