R Collection, fine details

Details make perfection and perfection is not a detail. (Leonardo da Vinci)

We are talking about R Collection, the Italian hotel group that is increasingly establishing itself in the panorama of prestigious hospitality.

Born on that branch of Lake Como of Manzonian memory with three luxury structures The Grand Hotel Victoria Concept & Spa, with its nuanced Manzoni atmospheres in Menaggio and two residences in Varenna, the nineteenth-century Villa Cipressi and the ancient patrician residence of great charm and elegance Hotel Royal Victoria, the group has acquired new structures in the “great Milan” and on the Gulf of Tigullio.

What unites and makes Varenna’s hotels unique is the magnificent Botanical Garden which, as a tradition of the Larian landscape, stretches out gently on the lake. Protected area and included in the prestigious list of the Great Italian Gardens, the terraced garden reaches the lake with a path on three levels.

Next to the three jewels of leisure in the Larian area we find three other structures intended for business customers, but no less demanding, in the greater Milan: the Hotel Mentana, in the historic center of the city, and the City Life Hotel Poliziano, at the shadow of the Three Towers of City Life, in Milan and the Hotel King in Varedo, a short distance from the Rho-Pero exhibition center and the legendary Monza racing circuit.

The latest addition to the collection is the Grand Hotel Bristol Resort and Spa in Rapallo, which occupies a refined historic residence built in 1908 in Liberty style, overlooking the Portofino promontory.

The flagship of the structure is the wellness area. The Erre Spa Bristol, which is spread over 2,000 square meters, offers diversified and personalized programs and, for those who want to treat themselves to a moment of privacy, even a private space inside the Spa.

“Luxury” wellness is also a feature of the Grand Hotel Victoria Concept & Spa in Menaggio which, with its 1200 square meter Erre Spa, is the largest of its kind on Lake Como.

The very special Fire Relaxation Room, with its central steam fireplace illuminated by a flame effect and the sound of burning wood, gently induces full relaxation for the body and

The red thread that binds all the experiences in the R Collection hotels is the attention to service and extreme attention to detail. Starting with the extensive use of home automation, to ensure an environmental impact oriented towards maximum sustainability, up to the choice of amenities in the rooms, treated with the origami technique, without glue and printed with soy ink, from the private piers that allow guests of the hotels on the lake to take advantage of all the R collection facilities, at the luggage-free checkout service, in partnership with PotPot of the hotels of the greater Milan, everything fits with the philosophy of guaranteeing their guests an all-round well-being.

Catering to which the group pays particular attention deserves a separate chapter.

The strength of the Grand Hotel Bristol Resort & Spa in Rapallo is the Le Cupole Restaurant, located in some of the most prestigious Italian food and wine guides and recently selected
by Alain Ducasse among the six best restaurants in Italy, thanks to the cuisine of the young chef Graziano Duca, who wisely alternates tradition, creativity and innovation.

The restaurant located on the ‘Roof Top’ of the Grand Hotel offers a romantic view of the Portofino promontory and the entire Gulf of Tigullio.

The R Collection group has recently signed a partnership with the multi-starred chef Andrea Berton who, in his long career, has worked in the brigades of Gualtiero Marchesi and Alain Ducasse, at Mximan’s in London and Pinchiorri wine shop in Florence, to name just a few cornerstones of his many years of experience, reaching the coveted recognition of the double Michelin star, which only the aforementioned Marchesi had achieved before him.

Since 2016 Andrea Berton has opened, in the futuristic district of Porta Nuova in Milan, the starred restaurant that bears his name and which is characterized by a cuisine where the flavors are always recognizable on the palate.

Author of a refined and complex cuisine from an intellectual point of view, Andrea Berton has inherited style from each of his masters, enhancing the basic ingredients and adding some little-known ingredients and combinations, to give life to “modern dishes”, as he loves define them.

An important partnership, which clearly aims to make the firmament of the R Collection food and wine offer on Lake Como even more resplendent, with the addition of a Michelin star.
