North Pole: it can be visited with an airship

The target? To give lucky tourists an immersive experience in the icy landscapes of the North, without sacrificing luxury but with a deep attention to respect for the environment

The enchanting landscape of the furthest point of the Earth can be admired thanks to a new, unexpected vehicle.

It’s called OceanSky Cruises and it’s the Dutch company that designed this fascinating and innovative type of trip.

The target? To give lucky tourists an immersive experience in the icy landscapes of the North, without sacrificing luxury but with a deep attention to respect for the environment.

The incredible vehicle, the Airlander 10 of the British Hybrid Air Veichles, aims to be a true ally of the delicate balance of the Arctic environment.

It will in fact be hybrid, with a full electrification project already in the future.

The numbers of the ice airship

Flying over the Arctic managing to enjoy the spectacle of unexplored areas and with a much lower altitude than flying is already a great achievement, but this airship never ceases to amaze.

On board there will be eight double cabins, spacious and equipped with every comfort, for a total of 16 passengers. The 7 staff members, including the starred chef, will complete the luxury experience of the lucky passengers.

Undoubtedly, the trip cannot be defined as being within everyone’s reach: to live this unforgettable experience and to be able to book one of the eight, highly coveted, double cabins, the zeros in the figure are not few.

In fact, there is talk of about 233 thousand dollars (about 198 thousand euros) for a luxury green trip on the OceanSky airship.

Reservations are about to open, although the first trips are not expected before 2023/2024.

The itinerary of the expedition

Svalbard: the northernmost inhabited center in the world will be the starting point of the first OceanSky voyage. We will land at the North Pole where explorer Robert Swan will take the lucky guests on a tour of these pristine and magical landscapes.

The stop will last about six hours and will be interspersed with a unique, unusual and unforgettable experience: a real picnic on the polar ice cap!
