Respect Nature: a Sustainable Collection by Timberland

Climate change, circular economy, sustainability and recycling are just some of the words gravitating around our planet’s health, a topic trending in the media, politics and awareness campaigns.

It is the Greta Thunberg effect, the Swedish student telling off State leaders with vitriolic speeches on their indolence in protecting the planet. Activism finds new life in the new generations’ enthusiasm and drive, with young crowds demonstrating to call governments to the rescue of the Earth.

An emergency no longer whispered, which socio-cultural players cannot afford to turn their backs to anymore. As a key communication driver already pioneering the green movement in less suspicious times, fashion is now taking to the field to contribute to the cause of the environment.

Nature needs heroes, Timberland’s motto goes. And nature needs heroes indeed, as well as decisive interventions positively impacting the environment.

This is how the American brand of casual-sporty clothing and footwear launched its call to action, a real movement that has materialized since as a series of actions that might make the difference for our planet.

Plant the Change™ is a co-working project by Timberland with seven partners from all over the world, helping the brand to reach the goal of planting 50 million trees in 5 years and cleaning up the air, as well as supporting the communities and creating new economic opportunities. But there is more: the label is also aiming at a 100% PVC-free footwear production, as well as a 100% use of sustainable, recycled or fair trade cotton.

The Fall/Winter 2019 collection combines sustainability, technology and design. Focusing on outerwear, the Respect Nature range is a selection of pieces made from alternative materials that ensure the same warmth, texture and performances as down, while being 100% eco-friendly.

Therma Range is a minimalist ski piece, designed to resist water and wind with a double DryVent layer and the Thermore® Thermal Booster, a smart insulation system that increases warmth as temperatures drop.

Blending urban style and performances, the Nordic Edge parka features a faux fur hood and a Thermore Ecodown insulation made of fibers from PET recycled bottles.

The Neo Summit bomber is a valid replacement for any traditional down jacket. Made from 100% recycled polyester and featuring a fiber down Warmer Primaloft insulation, it provides the ideal protection against the cold and the rain.

An extreme-tech collection with sustainability at heart, available online and in Timberland stores.
