An evening dedicated to remembrance and love for life. A life, that of Andrea Potsios, which stopped too soon to make all his dreams come true.
One of these was aimed at the most defenseless people, often victims of situations of serious discomfort.
Andrea Potsios, a successful manager at the top of Italian finance, had a big heart: philanthropy was in fact at the center of his thoughts.
On the occasion of the first anniversary of his untimely death, his wife Veronica, family and closest friends organized a charity dinner in Andrea’s honor, which took place at Palazzo Parigi on Monday 24 October.
Veronica Artioli Potsios underlined: “The great participation and extraordinary solidarity of all the guests of the evening, lifelong friends and many exponents of the world of finance, allowed the realization of humanitarian and philanthropic projects in favor of education and culture that my husband Andrea had adhered to several times in life. The premature death of a relative is an event of extreme pain, and yet, being able to transform it into an event capable of providing support to others, is an element of comfort and reason of satisfaction.”
The proceeds from the evening were donated to Children in Crisis Italy Onlus for the construction of an elementary school in Cambodia, in the very poor district of Battambang, in order to guarantee a first level of education to the many children in the area.
Andrea Potsios was an important person for Children in Crisis Italy: together with Veronica they had contributed to the construction of the Logan Town primary school in Libera, inaugurated in November 2013.
Barbara Bianchi Bonomi, President of Children in Crisis Italy, said: “a perfect and exciting evening, which aroused emotion among the friends present. The memory of Andrea, a friend he met in elementary school, lost and then found again who has always believed in me and in my work. A generous, elegant and special man.”
During the evening a charity auction was held with the collaboration of Christie’s auction house. Among the eleven lots in the auction, which retraced Andrea’s passion, there were some objects that belonged to him. With the proceeds, which he surpassed. the 30,000,000 euros, to which free donations have been added – including the generous one from the Banca Popolare di Milano Foundation – a study room in the Bocconi Library will be entitled to commemorate his important professional figure. A scholarship will also be awarded in his name to be allocated to the most deserving students of the prestigious Milanese university.
Because love is always the answer.
