Alberta Ferretti RESORT 2020 Collection: sustainability in sea-inspired Daywear

A luxury that keeps pace with  sustainability: a possible duo, a conscious, responsible approach that fashion labels have been more and more opting for.

Among them, Alberta Ferretti has turned to using eco-compatible materials and ensuring responsible manufacturing processes for its collections, while undertaking some eco-friendly actions in its production site, such as installing green lightning and heating systems.

In Monte-Carlo, the designer’s commitment to the environmental cause was honored with the Ethical and Sustainable Award during the Fashion Week, which she attended as a special guest to present her Resort 2020 Collection under the Yacht Club’s spotlights.

Ferretti also unveiled the preview of a sustainable capsule collection that will be fully released in New York next June.

With its communicative power, fashion can convey this message to millions of people, by raising awareness and promoting responsible behaviors. I know this is a huge issue that can’t surely be solved in just one season. But even the smallest of actions can make a difference. For our Resort 2020 Collection, most of the cashmere was recycled, and all the cotton was certified as sourced in sustainable ways

The 2020 cruise collection explores different themes: marine nuances symbolizing nature, the contemporary attitude of its eccentric, sophisticated daywear, and sustainability as the brand’s new drive.

The fluidity of waves and the tones of the sea were reproduced by cabans in soft woolen fabrics, polo T-shirts and long dresses in light printed monochrome silk, alongside Saharan dresses, trenches and washed denim in pastel tones, alternating with vibrant red and turquoise, and finally slim trousers embellished with metal loops, close-fitting skirts, suede mini-dresses and sober shorts.

With their female but plain taste, the tailor cuts marking the collection highlighted the brand’s new stylistic vision: elegant, “effortless” fashion, as the jargon calls it, with a strong practical sense, perfect as everyday wear.

My take on daywear is unconventional and chic

said Ferretti

It aims at expressing personality, uniqueness, character. Women aren’t afraid of daring anymore

The collection also features evening styles, walked down the runway at the end of the show: dresses in all the shades of blue – from aquamarine through turquoise and cerulean blue to the deep tones of the ocean – sprinkled with feathers and mother-of-pearl chips, shining details that perfectly suit contemporary mermaids.
