King Charles III’s Coronation as King of England

King Charles III's Coronation as King of England

Waiting for the Royal Family’s event of the year.

On the eve of the coronation of King Charles III, the expectation is growing. The Royal Family has always been a trend-setter when it comes to style, especially on big occasions. As with weddings, new births, speeches to the Nation or public appearances, they will be ready to set new trends.

The Family reunited

Tomorrow, 6 May 2023, the long-awaited coronation of King Charles III will take place. There are many revelations that came out from members of the family, whether deliberately or mistakenly, about the various outfits and who is going to be present during the ceremony. The seating arrangements inside Westminster Abbey are indeed known by the public, and Harry will sit 10 rows back from the Royal Family, among ordinary aristocrats of high lineage. Will his wife Meghan be at his side? Sadly not, in fact, as Buckingham Palace has confirmed, the Duchess of Sussex will not attend the ceremony and will remain in the United States with her two children. A family ceremony, without Meghan, but with the ex-husband of the new sovereign Camilla. In fact, the first husband of the Queen Consort, Andrew Parker Bowles, will attend the coronation with his children Tom and Laura. Style princess is Kate Middleton who, according to Alison Hammond during an episode of her talk show, will be wearing a hint of blue.

A passion for watches

Among the royal gowns, glittering jewellery, tailored dresses and perhaps tiaras – rumour has it that this year jewellery will not be worn to create a more sober King Charles III’s coronation ceremony – there can certainly be no shortage of timepieces. The Royal Family, in fact, is a great lover of watches and each member seems to have a favourite one that they could wear tomorrow at the ceremony. We are talking about collector’s watches that not only have an important economic value, but are also symbols that encapsulate significant meanings, bonds and historical moments in the life of the Royal Family.

The watches of the Royal Family

Prince William could wear his Omega Seamaster Professional during the coronation ceremony of King Charles III. A classic stainless steel quartz model with a blue dial, a gift from his mother, which he also wore on his wedding day with Kate. The princess also seems to have her own favourite, she often wears the Ballon Bleu model in steel by Cartier. Harry’s watch, on the other hand, is one of a kind: an Explorer II by Rolex. A rare model since it is one of only 48 in the world, made on a special order for the attack helicopter regiment where the prince served. Finally Charles, the new King seems to have a favourite of his own, which would be the Patek Philippe Calatrava.  But recently, he seems to have an automatic Chronographe Toric by Parmigiani Fleurier on his wrist, so tomorrow he could perhaps wear this delicate timepiece. This haute horlogerie house recently presented Giorgio Armani 11, the new series of watches for men and women.
