Once again, the class and professionalism of Ca’ Sagredo’s Director, Ms. Lorenza Lain, have been honoured with a “Special Recognition Award” assigned by the FDNY Columbia Association during the Gala dinner held in New York at Russo’s on the Bay. Lorenza Lain was assigned the award “for her tireless dedication and loyal devotion, for the well-being of the FDNY”.
During the ceremony, Lorenza Lain read a congratulatory letter written by the Mayor of Venice, Mr. Luigi Brugnaro, who stated: “Being honoured with an important prize such as the Special Recognition Award 2018 is a symbol of our strong relationship with the US and, in particular, with the New York Fire Department. It is tangible proof that your work ethic and professionalism, as well as your dedication to the development and strengthening of the relationship between our two cities, are appreciated. This strong relationship was renewed again, last year, with the Historic Regatta. Developing relationships such as the one that links Venice and the FDNY Columbia Association is of paramount importance for us and it proves that our City needs people who, just like you, can be ambassadors of Venice throughout the world. Thanks to your entrepreneurial vision and to your undeniable artistic sense, you have managed to send a clear message to the world through Lorenzo Quinn’s incredible sculpture, “Support”: a giant pair of hands coming out of the Canal Grande to “hold” the walls of the Ca’Sagredo Hotel. Through this art installation, you have managed to raise awareness about how delicate the balance of man and nature is, and how much it has been put at risk by climate change.”
After the important US award, on July 13 Mayor Luigi Brugnaro nominated Ms. Lorenza Lain to the Board of Directors of the Venetian Museums. The Foundation manages and promotes a rich, articulate, complex and financially sound system of museums. It has full managerial and administrational autonomy – under the direction of its Board – and, therefore, it can easily operate and plan independently, benefiting from a strong and transparent entrepreneurial guidance in combination with an efficient and rational structure, as well as the ability to aggregate and find the necessary resources.
