Remo Ruffini’s brand has launched its first bio-based, carbon-neutral down jacket, designed to be made from fabrics and paired with accessories of plant origin.
The piece has resulted from work by the R&D departments partnering with Moncler, and reiterates the brand’s commitment to collaborate with all players of the supply chain to find alternative solutions that can contribute to tackle climate changes.
The fabric, lining, buttons and zip of the jacket are all made from castor seeds, a raw material that allows for a CO2 emission reduction of around 30%. Moreover, the castor plant is grown in arid regions that are not earmarked for agriculture, needs lower quantities of water, and does not take any agricultural land away from the food production.
Last, all emissions generated throughout the whole life cycle of the item have been compensated by REDD+ certified projects for the conservation of the Amazon rainforest, which makes the jacket carbon-neutral too.
