Vip and luxury holidays? The answer is Porto Cervo.
This exclusive jewel, set on one of the most beautiful coasts in Italy, is also becoming known for its green policies.
Blue Flag also on the Costa Smeralda
The international recognition issued by the Fee Foundation for Environmental Education awarded Porto Cervo again this year.
Together with over 80 other Italian tourist landings, the wonderful Marina di Porto Cervo was awarded for its environmental enhancement policy.
The recognition for Smeralda Holding came thanks to a path already started some time ago: enhancing green spaces, creating nature trails, adopting a plastic free policy for hotels and rational waste management are the cornerstones.
Porto Cervo Marina and the Seabin
Tourists who can afford luxurious holidays on the Costa Smeralda will have a new surprise to protect the wonderful sea of Sardinia.
Smeralda Holding has in fact announced the adoption of the Seabin.
These are real floating baskets designed to reduce the amount of waste in the sea.
Inserted in the port area, the containers are immersed in water and equipped with a pump that creates a current capable of capturing the waste.
A specialized operator will be in charge of emptying the seabins several times a day.
Smaralda Holding assumes a waste collection of over 500Kg in one year: the splendid sea of Porto Cervo will be without plastic, diesel and petrol.
Today, Porto Cervo is one of the largest ports in the Mediterranean: with over 700 berths it is one of the most exclusive places in the world.
It is here that some of the most exclusive international sailing regattas are organized; only a few lucky ones can also boast of being part of the prestigious Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.
A holiday on the Costa Smeralda is an exclusive luxury: from today it will also be a little greener.
