Viva Magenta is the Color of 2023

As has become tradition, the Pantone Color Institute has announced the color of the year, following the proven Instagram announcement system.

The color for the next 2023 is 18-1750 Viva Magenta. It cannot be defined as red or even as purple, but it is an unconventional shade:

This color has an experimental spirit, “The Magentaverse” is a new color for everyone

declares the team from the American Institute.

A color defined as a new model of optimism, after the difficult years that the world has and is facing: the color represents a touch of courage for the future.

Like every year, Viva Magenta will influence fashion, beauty and design by exploring revolutionary possibilities and applications also with Artificial Intelligence which will be a precious ally for media diffusion.

Fashion, beauty, technology and design are eagerly waiting and as soon as the shade is proclaimed, they immediately launch themselves in pursuit of the trend, with a range of online products.

On the academy website we find a more precise description:

In this era where technology prevails, we try to draw inspiration from nature and what is real

says Laurie Pressman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family and is inspired by the red of the cochineal, one of the most precious natural dyes as well as one of the strongest and brightest the world has ever known. Rooted in the primordial, Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta reconnects us to the original material. It summons the forces of nature and helps build our inner strength

Meanwhile, the hashtag #magentaverse, a portmanteau between Magenta and Metaverse, is already expected to go viral. The official color debut? In Miami, where Pantone inaugurated an exhibition dedicated to the new color on December 3rd.

The itinerary will take visitors on a journey of colors, textures and more, focusing on the relationship between art, technology and science to showcase the Pantone Color of the Year 2023 in all its forms, concludes the academy that has been launching trends in terms of shades for over 20 years.
