Sustainable luxury: La Prairie with Ècal’s students for the packaging of the future

Born in early 2021, the collaboration between La Prairie and the ECAL Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne (Écal) has always been aimed at promoting and enhancing the talent of the designers and artists of the future.

Many, many were the new creative perspectives born from the collaboration between the prestigious luxury beauty brand and the Swiss school of art and design.

La Prairie offered the opportunity to young talents to express themselves in different ways, precisely in order to promote Swiss creativity, craftsmanship and aesthetics; rooted and shared values.

La Prairie and the fruits of collaboration

The first project to which the students were called concerned the invitation to create works concerning the place of origin of the brand: Switzerland.

The homeland of La Prairie inspired the young talents of the ècal Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne.

The fruits of this first collaboration were all inspired by the core values ​​of Switzerland: precision, purity and timelessness.

The second phase of the collaboration, on the other hand, saw the students committed to creatively expressing the concept of sustainability combined with those of development and the future.

Ecal and sustainable luxury packaging

La Prairie cosmetic products are famous all over the world for their luxurious composition.

Caviar, gold and platinum are often the foundations of the brand’s cosmetics.

The students were asked to design sustainable packaging that respected the preciousness of these products.

Starting from the foldable box of La Prairie’s Skin Caviar Luxe Cream, the young alenti have reinvented the packaging of the line, drawing on sustainable sources.

The result?

Cases in vegan leather, precious chests in biodegradable PaperFoam, packaging in recyclable cellulose fiber and exclusive boxes in graphite powder derived from carbon captured directly from the air.
