Dior and Burberry: from fighting deforestation to zero emissions, all through fashion shows

The last fashion shows as we have always known them, before lockdown revolutionized all our habits, were the presentations of the 2020 SS collections

The last fashion shows as we have always known them, before lockdown revolutionized all our habits, were the presentations of the 2020 SS collections.

On the occasion, two brand stood out not just for the fabrics, cuts and colors of their pieces, but also for spreading green messages from the runways.

The first was a brand that has always been synonymous with elegance, style, and great care for everything around: Dior.

Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s designer and the promoter of the brand’s new green twist, set the show in real woods with as many as 164 shrubs, all replanted around Paris to send a strong message against deforestation within the #PlantingForTheFuture project.

Another show that was long talked about, and not just for accessories and clothes, was Burberry’s; the brand’s green turn was taken by their new head Tisci, who forsook furs for good and created a fully emission-free location and event for the 2020 SS show.
