Eco-friendly tycoon Elon Musk and solar roof tiles


Hearing his name is enough to know that three elements are about to be discussed: luxury, sustainability and the future.

Elon Musk, a multi-millionaire, definitely visionary entrepreneur, has been the first to believe that luxury, style and sustainability could coexist and create surprising solutions.

After launching the Tesla revolutionary electric supercars, sporting a flawless style and delivering performances that rival those of the most powerful racing cars, Musk has recently presented a new concept of his.

This time, luxury does not meet sustainability on four wheels, but on our roofs: the eco-friendly tycoon has just unveiled his new solar rooftop tiles.

The Californian brand has made many jaws drop by presenting what might look like absolutely ordinary roof tiles at first glance. In fact, the lower layer of Tesla’s tiles conceals a solar panel.

As widely known, a solar roof can bring remarkable benefits on an environmental level, but aesthetics certainly has not been prioritized so far.

Tesla’s solar tiles promise to revolutionize the standard: their shape, material and structure will no longer create those unsightly solar patches,  but every new luxury building and residence will now be able to incorporate this interesting blend of design and sustainability.

All set, then?

Not exactly: the peculiar presentation event for the solar tiles, which was held in Wisteria Lane, the iconic glamorous street from the cult TV show Desperate Housewives, covered everything from style to energy storage, from environmental protection to the love of design.

Just one small detail remains unknown: the price of this extraordinary solar roofing system is still a mystery.
