The Group’s awareness of sustainability and sea preservation continues: this time Prada is in Venice with Unesco for outdoor lessons dedicated to nursery school children.

Kindergarten of the Lagoon – Asylum of the Lagoon: this is the name of the new program of the Prada Group which aims to raise the awareness of children on the issues of sustainability and ocean preservation.

The city chosen for the start of the project is Venice, where starting from September 2022 the maison will organize a series of lessons dedicated to the children of the city’s kindergartens based on the principles of outdoor education to teach the protection of the sea and its resources.

Prada, Sea Beyond lands in Venice

This project is part of Sea Beyond, the environmental sustainability and biodiversity promotion campaign that the Prada Group has been carrying out together with the Unesco Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission since 2019.

Sea Beyond is financed with the revenues from the sales of the Prada Re-Nylon collection, entirely made with regenerated nylon obtained from the recycling of plastic materials recovered in the oceans, such as fishing nets, in landfills or deriving from textile fiber waste from all over the world.

So far the program has targeted over 300 international secondary school students. The 2021-22 educational module touched Brazil, China, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, the United Kingdom and South Africa. Girls and boys met with experts, social entrepreneurs, scientists and marine biologists, who involved them in the challenges of sustainable development.

From June 2021 Sea Beyond has been enriched with two other activities: a training project for the more than 13,000 employees of the Group worldwide and the Asylum of the Lagoon initiative for the children of Venice.

Sea Beyond, Prada for future generations

The priority is to bring the Group into an increasingly sustainable decade, not only from an economic point of view, but also from that of three fundamental pillars such as culture, environment and social

explains the Head of Corporate Social Responsibility of Prada Lorenzo Bertelli

The Sea Beyond project is particularly close to my heart, it combines the social and environmental part and is rooted in our family identity

This is not meant to be a spot project but an ongoing one

adds Bertelli

when it comes to culture and education we need to be patient and not give up and we want to do the same, continue this program with Unesco towards future generations and we hope to reap the benefits in 10-20 years, when today’s young people grow up
