At the helm are Fulvio Scavia and his son Alessandro — designer, artist, and sculptor. Two generations separated by fifty years, yet bound by a single language: art, translated into gold, precious stones, and form. I meet them in their atelier, a space suspended between past and future, where hand-drawn sketches coexist with digital technologies and rare gemstones. Mr. Fulvio Scavia, for over a century your name has been synonymous with style, elegance, and uniqueness. How would you define SCAVIA’s philosophy today?
“Our philosophy has always been one and the same — to create something that fascinates, surprises, and makes people dream. Every SCAVIA jewel is conceived to astonish; it’s an artistic gesture, not a commercial one. Each creation must reflect the client’s personality, stir emotion, and convey a sense of belonging — as if it had been imagined exclusively for them. Uniqueness is an absolute value, and when beauty is authentic, it gives life to jewels that transcend time”.
Alessandro, you represent the new generation. How do you interpret this legacy, and how do you project it into the future?
“Today, in an increasingly digitalized world, I feel a responsibility to reaffirm the importance of creative craftsmanship — of those hands and that knowledge that are slowly disappearing. For me, innovation does not mean abandoning tradition; it means transforming it into a contemporary language, continuing to honor it through authentic beauty and the enduring power of handmade art”.
Is there a difference in how each of you conceives creativity?
“I would say there’s a kind of dynamic continuity. I always start from a hand-drawn sketch — from the purity of the line. Alessandro, on the other hand, often starts from a concept — a mental or symbolic form. But ultimately, the principle is the same: to give shape to beauty and to interpret emotion”. Alessandro Scavia adds: “Yes, we work differently, but with the same passion — the pursuit of perfection. My father represents the breaking of classical boundaries at their highest expression; I seek the transfiguration of the classical. It’s like playing the same instrument, but with a new tone”.
What do you think is the most important value to pass on?
According to Alessandro Scavia, the truth of the creative gesture. “Everything can evolve, but the artist’s sincerity, care, and obsessive pursuit of beauty must remain untouched”. Fulvio Scavia agrees and adds: “It’s about respect — for the material, and for the person who wears it. A SCAVIA jewel is never merely an object; it is an extension of the individual. It represents them, protects them, celebrates them”.
How do you envision the future of the maison?
“I see a bright future, one in which Alessandro will give new form to what we have built. SCAVIA will continue to stand as a point of reference for those who seek uniqueness and exclusivity, not fleeting fashion”. Alessandro Scavia imagines a new Renaissance of jewelry — a time when creativity once again takes center stage and every piece tells a story. “We will continue to create ‘wearable art’: living works, emotions one can touch”.
