Concours of Elegance City of Lugano

This edition of the Concorso d’Eleganza presents some important innovations that give the event even more relevance and cultural depth

The city of Lugano once again this year gave its patronage to the competition organized by Lions Club Monteceneri, an unmissable event for fans of historic cars.

The event is a real fashion show to show the public the beautiful timeless cars of the most prestigious car manufacturers that have marked the different eras, both for design and mechanical performance.

Also organized to support the business development of the historic and luxurious boutiques on Via Nassa in Lugano, the gathering is an opportunity for the rediscovery and enhancement of the Ticino area. The connection with the territory determines the choice of proposing a different route every year, offering participants an exclusive experience to discover the naturalistic beauties of the Canton of Ticino.

Elegance, connection with the territory and charity

Over the years, the event has increased its success from 30 cars in 2013 for the regularity Rally to 90 cars in 2019. For the second edition of the Concorso d’Eleganza city of Lugano, 50 cars are expected to be evaluated by 10 judges of first-rate, personalities active in the major elegance contests in the world. The cars will remain on display for the jury and the public starting on the morning of Saturday 30 April and the award ceremony will take place in the late afternoon.

This edition of the Concorso d’Eleganza presents some important innovations that give the event even more relevance and cultural depth. Already on Friday evening there will be the vernissage, by invitation, of the artist Enrico Ghinato, at the Imago Art Gallery. The lake will also be the protagonist this year, hosting a selection of vintage boats that will provide a splendid setting for the competition which, on Saturday afternoon, includes an exhibition of vintage motorboats and a themed exhibition at the Imago Art Gallery.

On Saturday evening, however, solidarity will be discussed with a charity dinner during which the winning cars of the competition will be awarded and a mini-auction of cars and valuables will be set up by a prestigious auction house.

The 8th edition of the Regularity Rally will take place on Sunday 1 May, with departure of the first crew from the Splash & Spa Riviera wellness center. Along the route there are the usual time controls by means of a pressure switch and skill tests that excite the competitive and playful spirit of the competitors.

As is now customary, the race will end at the Coronado Hotel in Mendrisio and the cars can still be admired thanks to the exhibition set up near the hotel.
