258 lots of jewelry, watches & luxury goods at the Milanese auction house.
Today’s market is brand-oriented, with the rarities of the prestigious brands increasingly appreciated as safe-haven assets that have long been leading international auctions. Aware of this rapidly growing trend, Faraone Casa d’Aste kicks off its first of two in-person auction events for 2024, offering a varied but Maison-driven selection of lots. The 258 lots will be divided into three sessions, with a morning session dedicated to luxury goods, bags, and accessories, tableware and silverware, while in the afternoon, jewelry and watches will be auctioned via live streaming on the MyFaraone app and in person, by invitation, at the Montenapoleone 9 venue.
Cartier, Chopard, Bulgari, Sabbadini, Damiani, Pomellato, and Faraone are among the brands featured
In the jewelry session, the top lot is a rare Bulgari Monete collection choker from the 1980s with three rows of tubogas, in two-tone gold with an imperial Roman bronze coin set in the central part. Following are a Burmese octagonal no-heat sapphire weighing approximately 16.50 ct mounted on a platinum ring, and another oval Ceylon sapphire of approximately 14 ct, also no-heat, mounted on a yellow gold brooch.
Also featured are two Colombian oval emeralds totaling approximately 4.90 ct mounted on a yellow gold ring, a Pederzani yellow gold ring with a 22.73 ct oval cabochon sapphire surrounded by calibré sapphires and diamonds, and a platinum ring with a natural white saltwater pearl with a gray hue measuring approximately 17 mm. In terms of diamonds, there are two platinum solitaire rings, one with a 6.03 ct diamond and the other with a 6.86 ct diamond, both brilliant cut.
The lineup continues with a Bulgari Serpenti Viper full diamond bracelet and ring in white gold. A Vintage Alhambra necklace by Van Cleef & Arpels, featuring ten motifs in yellow gold with malachite and diamonds. Closing the jewelry session are a Sabbadini ebony and diamond snake bracelet, a yellow gold Illario snake ring with enamel and diamonds, a Ravasco platinum and diamond brooch, and an Illario Minaudière for Ventrella in yellow and white gold finished with round diamonds and calibré rubies, accompanied by its original case.
Audemars Piguet, Rolex watches, but above all, a rare Patek Philippe “Nautellipse” in gold
In this session, a rare Patek Philippe 3770/001 in yellow gold is featured, an ultra-sought-after model despite its quartz movement, born from the fusion in the 1980s of the elegant and refined Ellipse and the Nautilus, the symbol of youthful sportiness. Hybrid between the two watches, the “Nautellipse,” as it is affectionately nicknamed, is auctioned in this rare version, being only the fourth to appear on the international auction market, enhancing its desirability with its original box and warranty certificate included.
Accompanying it are two Audemars Piguet Royal Oak models with automatic mechanical movement, one in yellow gold (ref. 15450BA) and the other in steel (ref. 15300 ST.OO), both with box and papers. Closing the session are two Rolex watches: an Ovetto (ref. 5050) and an Ovettone (6035), both from the 1950s.
In the morning, Chanel, Hermes, and Gucci bags and other luxury goods
Continuously increasing in price, true investments akin to purchasing artwork, Chanel bags continue to be among the best-selling accessories. Hence, purchasing vintage or second-hand items from the French brand, whose value remains unchanged over time, emerges as a good and eco-friendly solution to their constant price hikes; it’s no wonder that global searches for “vintage Chanel bags” have more than doubled in the past year. In the morning session, there are a total of 12 Chanel bags, starting with a vintage 34 Timeless Jumbo in black quilted leather from the 1980s complete with a dust bag.
A full set bubblegum pink caviar leather Timeless double flap medium, followed by another Timeless, size 25, in black quilted lambskin with burgundy leather interior, a Classic Jumbo 36, with three compartments, in soft taupe gray quilted lambskin complete with card and dust bag. Next is a size 32 Jumbo with a single coral-colored patent leather flap and a VIP Gift Timeless mini in black quilted leather with adjustable shoulder strap. Also from the Parisian Maison are two My Own Frame 19 shoulder bags, one in black and white tweed, the other in white and pink tweed, both complete with original dust bag. Rounding out the Chanel lot range are two CC In Love 18 heart-shaped bags, in peach pink and lilac quilted leather, complete with original dust bags and boxes.
Highly sought after and a “safe choice” in the luxury handbag field, Hermès vintage Kelly 32 from the 1940s in black crocodile with gold hardware, complete with clochette with key, lock, original dust bag, and post-sale service receipt for recent restoration. Closing the session are a vintage Gucci Jackie velvet and leather bag from the Fall/Winter 1999 collection, designed by Tom Ford, a 1960s vintage Gucci Bamboo in cream color, and a selection of silverware and art de la table.
