Burberry says goodbye to plastics. According to the New Plastics Economy Global Commitment report published by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, which encourages brands to move to a circular economy, the British fashion house is planning to eliminate all plastic packaging by 2025.
As Burberry stated, their new packaging will be re-usable, totally recyclable and compostable.
Wwd further explains that “so far, the company has eliminated plastic lamination from its retail bags and poly bags for garment covers, reducing the use of 29 tons of plastic.”
The luxury label is also aiming at replacing all hangers with eco-friendly options by the end of this year.
Led by Marco Gobbetti, the brand is not new to green initiatives. Last September, Burberry was the first fashion house to publicly commit to stop destroying unsold goods.
