German brand Audi’s green identity has already been much talked about both for the presentation of the E-tron range, including fully electric city cars and sedans, and for the recent inauguration of the Brussels carbon-neutral plant.
In collaboration with E-ON, Audi has once again chosen sustainable energy for its production plant in Hungary; more specifically, Győr’s plant only uses renewable energy with its rooftop solar panel system, the largest in Europe.
The Brussels and Győr plants have been leading a broader, more structured project by the German brand; according to Peter Kössler, Board Member for Production at Audi AG, “all Audi plants will be carbon-free by 2025”.
Such an ambitious goal could be reached not just by using solar panel systems, but renewable geothermal energy and biogas too, and by managing the water cycle in a new way based on supply techniques that avoid wastes.
But there is more: Audi’s sustainable turn takes form with the Mission: Zero project, aiming to make the brand’s whole supply chain carbon-free.
