Different visions can result in successful collaborations. Like the Menswear SS 2020 collection by Eastpak and Raf Simons, who have teamed up to create their ninth collaborative capsule collection, presented at the Paris Men’s Fashion Week during the Belgian designer’s runway show.
Eastpak’s essential trademarks since its establishment in 1952, streetwear and functionality blend with the visionary concepts pervading Raf Simons’s creations, and merge into the brand’s most symbolic pieces, protagonists of the next summer season.
The collection celebrates the designer’s origins and Antwerp, a baroque city which is also an important hub of arts and architecture, as well as a source of inspiration for the urban culture.
The outcome is a series of new takes on cult accessories such as the Eastpak backpack, with newly-introduced Padded Doubl’r model and Poster Backbacks, already featured in the brands’ previous collaboration, with punk and new-wave twists.
The Pocketbag Loop and Waist Bag Loop share multi-functionality and versatility, thanks to utility pockets and modular mini bags, adjustable shoulder bags that allow for the most varied customizations.
The final touch is given by letterings and prints illustrated by Raf Simons himself – a tribute to the Belgian New Beat and renowned record label R&S Records, which produced albums by singers such as Aphex Twin and Joey Beltram.
