BRAFA Art Talks 2022: a range of conferences for art lovers
From Saturday 18 June to Saturday 25 June 2022 the Brafa Art Talks meetings are back at the King Baudouin Foundation (BRAFA Art Fair, Brussels Expo, Stand 115). Appointment every day at 4 pm – except Monday 20 June – with museum curators and international professionals on various topics related to collecting and the world of art.
Saturday, June 18th (invitation only) – FROM ANTWERP TO AMSTERDAM, SIXTEENTH- AND SEVENTEENTH-CENTURY PAINTING:

In this BRAFA Art Talk, Micha Leeflang will discuss the preparations for the exhibition entitled From Antwerp to Amsterdam, sixteenth- and seventeenth-century painting, which will be presented at the Museum Catharijneconvent in Utrecht from May 11th to September 17th, 2023. Political and religious unrest in Antwerp caused a wave of migration of artists to the north, which created an unprecedented artistic emulation in Amsterdam, Leiden, Haarlem and Delft.

Tuesday, June 21st – 200 YEARS OF EGYPTOLOGY (1822-2022). A RETROSPECTIVE OF THE BELGIAN CONTRIBUTION TO THE STUDY OF ANCIENT EGYPTIAN CULTURE

Two hundred years of Egyptology (1822-2022). This BRAFA Art Talk will allow Dr. Luc Limme to present a retrospective of the Belgian contribution to the study of ancient Egyptian culture. Wednesday, June 22nd – HOW TO COLLECT CONTEMPORARY ART?

Panel discussion led by Hubert d’Ursel, Benelux Director, The Fine Art Group. With the participation of Rodolphe Janssen (Galerie Rodolphe Janssen), Morgan Long (Managing Director, The Fine Art Group, London), Benedicte Goesaert (Artistic Liaison Officer, Curator, Philippe Van Snick Estate) and Frédéric de Goldschmidt (Collector, Founder of Cloud Seven).
Four renowned specialists will share their experience and give their advice on how to build a contemporary art collection.

On the occasion of the exhibition organised at the Musée de La Boverie in Liège from October 21st, 2022 to March 26th, 2023, in collaboration with the Louvre Museum, two of the three curators will present one of the great female personalities of the French branch of the Rothschild family who have made a significant contribution to the enrichment of the historical heritage and collections of French museums.

However, it must be recognized that lending a work of art can be a source of anxiety and questions for the collector. During this round table discussion, the different stages and points of vigilance to be taken into account will be discussed so that both lenders and borrowers can interact and engage with confidence
