Justine Triet won the Palme d’Or.
Cannes Film Festival is come to an end, and what we have now is tone of movies to watch. But as we all know Cannes, during the last years, is not only about cinema, but also about fashion, with all those incredible outfits walking on the red carpet.
The Palme d’Or
Last year Ruben Östlund won the prize with “Triangle of Sadness” and this year the Palme d’Or, presented by Jane Fonda who wore an embroidered black sequin top with an asymmetrical train, paired with tailored black silk cady pants by AMI Paris, went to Justine Triet’s “Anatomy of a Fall”. A thought-provoking legal drama which purports to investigate the guilt or innocence of a popular novelist (Sandra Hüller), accused of murdering her husband. But the film is every bit as much an inquest into their marriage, bringing private details from the couple’s personal life into the courtroom for the press, public and audience to dissect, as if under a microscope.
The Grand Prix was given to “The Zone of Interest”. Directed by Jonathan Glazer and based on the novel of the same title by Martin Amis, the film centers on the commandant of Auschwitz and his wife, whose home is adjacent to the extermination camp. And “Fallen Leaves”, the latest from the Finnish filmmaker Aki Kaurismäki, won the Jury Prize. But now is time to have a look back at the most iconic moment on the red carpet of Cannes.
The most iconic moment and looks of Cannes Film Festival
Pedro Almodóvar, with his lead actors, presented his new movie “Strange Way of Life” at the Cannes Film Festival in the Official Selection. Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello serve as associate producers and all the actors wore a suit by the French House.
“Asteroid City” by Wes Anderson landed in Cannes and Scarlett Johansson, in the cast, shined like a diamond on the red carpet wearing a petal pink and white scuba fabric dress embellished with a micro embroidery of beads and rhinestones by Prada. But also, Maya Hawke, daughter of Uma Thurman, literally took home a ten plus for her gown. She wore an olive green tec satin dress with distinctive neckline and structured skirt, paired with light blue leather gloves and white patent ankle boots. All by Prada and very Wes Anderson style.
We’ll remember “The Idol”, the first TV show to officially debut at Cannes, and its cast on the Croisette. Lily-Rose Depp and Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, from the Weeknd, are the lead actors, supported by Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Dan Levy and Rachel Sennott. A remarkable moment where a new Generation of actors took the stage and the spotlight.
Models attending Cannes Film Festival
As we said before, not only cinema but also fashion. In fact, on the red carpet, we saw a lot of 90s model. Such as Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Carla Bruni, Heidi Klum and Helena Christensen. Just as we had a new Generation of actors and actress on the red carpet, so too the new Gen of models was there. Elsa Hosk stole the spotlight with a gown designed by Viktor & Rolf for the spring-summer 2023 collection, while Gigi Hadid wore a gown by Zac Posen.
