After important past collaborations, like the one with designer Roberto Capucci and the male cocktail jackets made by Stefano Ricci, the company owning the old textile workshop, the lampassi, damask and taffeta fabrics are back to dressing women.
Elisabetta Bardelli Ricci, General Manager of Antico Setificio Fiorentino, who has always been involved in all-female projects, is launching a new challenge together with the stylist Eleonora Lastrucci, by developing high-fashion womenswear dresses that become skillful works of art.
A tribute to Made in Italy and Made in Florence, but especially to women’s power to be women and to start again from their love for handicraft and Florence, united as Italian excellences. The Florentia dress by Eleonora and Elisabetta represents a field of flowers, fully handmade and named after the traditional fabric from which it is made: Lampasso Iris Florentia.
This prestigious fabric is still made at Antico Setificio Fiorentino on original 19th-century looms, and the pattern is all lilies, the symbol of Florence as well as purity and regality.
Even so, women know how to tackle the Coronavirus crisis – by proving able to collaborate, create and innovate together, while uniting two strong handicraf worlds towards recovery.
