Thebe Magugu

The young Israeli designer, headquartered in Johannesburg, receives a sum of € 300,000, plus a year of coaching at the LVMH group.

The awards ceremony took place at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, with actress Alicia Vikander as godmother and the presence of the creative directors of the brands in the orbit of the French giant.

A special prize, dedicated to the memory of Karl Lagerfeld, went to Hed Mayner, recipient of 150 thousand euros and a one-year LVMH mentorship program.

For the first time the 24S e-store (formerly 24 Sèvres), headed by the company led by Bernard Arnault, has launched for the occasion a clothing capsule of the eight finalist brands: apart from Magugu and Mayner, they are Anrealage (designed by Kunihiko Morinaga), Bethany Williams, Bode (by Emily Adams Bode), Phipps (by Spencer Phipps), Stefan Cooke (by Stefan Cooke and Jake Burt) and Kenneth Ize (by Kenneth Izedonmwen).

Like Thebe Magugu, Izedonmwen also comes from Africa – precisely from Nigeria – and it is the first time that two designers born and raised on this continent enter the list of the elected officials, chaired by Delphine Arnault.
