One night at the Demo Hotel Design Emotion in Rimini
After telling you about the project in our November article, I decided to visit the Demo Hotel in Rimini for you, together with the architect Laura Verdi, who coordinated the entire project and directly oversaw the construction of some common areas and Piero Marini host of the structure extremely attentive to details and hospitality.
Thanks to a very strong media exposure, to the awareness campaigns towards professionals and to the enthusiastic welcome of guests, in just over a year Demo has become a reference point for the hotel industry, “even the third hotel in the world recommended by TripAdvisor “, Laura and Piero say” we are proud and enthusiastic! ”
Demo was born as a bet – continues Laura – after a splendid experience at SIA Hospitality Design in Rimini with the Rooms project, where we had set up 10 sample rooms with as many architectural firms, Mauro Santinato president of Teamwork Hospitality and I wondered what could happen if we made the showroom permanent. We wanted to create a memorable experience to live!
The opportunity came when a 60’s pension became available.
14 architectural firms have been called upon to transform the spaces, 90 partners and a set of cutting-edge IOT products and services have transformed the guesthouse into a design icon.
“What was my personal bet?” – Laura continues – “coordinate them all! There is no one material that is the same as another, not one room that is the same as another, not one handle that is the same as another! ”
In the suites, bathrooms, laundry and common areas we find a concentration of all the new trends in architecture.
From the hybrid and coworking spaces of the common areas, to the bathrooms of some suites with free standing tubs and even private spas, from total freedom and privacy in the management of check-in, through digital solutions, to the most advanced home automation, and all this it was possible by leaving the architecture and design studios free to do and dare what they most wanted to do!
And so here is Chiara Tabellini, founder of Ligh8Space, taking care of the lighting aspects of the exteriors, as well as coordinating the choices of the lighting equipment, the Caberlon Caroppi studio daring to create a colored stone and resin flooring for the common space with an intriguing name “Seeking summer all the year”.
Ovre.design®’s “Spin the wheel” laundry room where every single detail refers to iconic elements of Italian design, the bathrooms in the “Drama” coworking areas by Laura Verdi that recall elements of the Italian opera tradition, up to 9 suites with names evocative: The Circle Room, by Silvia Ticchi, Smoove of FDA Architetti, which already from the name plays with the gymnastic activities and tools for physical activities that we find inside, Una vita d (a) mare, by Galimbertistudio, Color episodes of Hub48, In a light wave, of Fragment Hospitality, a suite accessible for the disabled, for which the consultancy of Roberto Vitali, president of Village for All, Just like home of Contract Lab and LAGO, Tropicana Club of Rizoma Architecture was invaluable. overwhelms with its pop style, Into the cloud by Barbara Vannucchi which invites us to lightness and finally the penthouse with a large terrace, Sea Suite, by studio Bizzarro.
After this presentation, I admit that my expectations are very high and I look forward to an amazing experience in the suite destined for me: The Circle Room by Silvia Ticchi, a landscape architect with a passion for design.
I use the six-digit code that was assigned to me after a practical self check in, to enter the soft and suffused atmosphere of the architect Ticchi.
The living room is dominated by a very comfortable sofa and by the soft swirls of the wall covering that immediately recalls the autumnal atmospheres of nature.
The color palette ranges from burnt shades to beige, from sienna to antique pink.
Every detail is cared for, personalized and designed to minimize waste in a perspective of sustainability, from the remote controls of the TVs that have a colorful, practical and hygienic disposable mask, to the water bottles to supply water to the dispensers in the common area. The spaces are fluid and casual, the soft and unusual lines built around the perfect shape of the initial inspiration: the circle.
The “semi exploded” bathroom has a slightly retro style with large gerberas designed on the wall coverings that seem to float in the air and heavy gray velvet curtains to delimit the spaces that interact with the ultra-modern flooring, in a set of practicality and femininity that recalls the characters of the heroines of literature for “good ladies” of the past.
The soundtrack, he specifies, accompanies my inspection for my suite, which via QR code I was able to download from Spotify and listen via Alexa.
In the morning, after lingering for a long time on the wonderful “Perdormire” mattress, and having been pampered by the embrace of Pedersoli’s bathrobes, I receive a bag in my room from our invaluable Host Piero who, freed from bureaucratic tasks, can devote himself to the care of their guests with the proverbial Romagna hospitality, like the splendid donut filled with still warm cream that awaits me with your good morning.
Saying goodbye to Demo is difficult, better think about goodbye, for a new experience to live.
