The prestigious hotel will host the highly-anticipated gathering of vintage and classic boats

The countdown has started for the recurring event dedicated to vintage and classic boats, taking place next September 12 in the splendid setting of the Villa d’Este hotel in collaboration with ASDEC (the Association and Historical Register of Vintage and Classic Boats), whose goal is preserving and fostering interest in these boats and their culture through the commitment of its passionate, enthusiastic affiliates.

The gathering’s next edition intends to celebrate Lake Como and its treasures, recognized and acclaimed all over the world, including premium hospitality – with the Villa d’Este hotel as its flagship – and a long-running boating tradition, a unique heritage handed down from generation to generation. The local crafting know-how keeps elevating the whole Italian boating industry, with the support of the repair and restoration shipyards located around the lake that masterfully take care of these masterpieces.

All along its fascinating history, the Villa d’Este hotel’s jetties have welcomed iconic, extraordinary boats; years later, they are now going back to the hotel in all their glory, in all their timeless charm. An invitation to live the dolce vita, and appreciate its everlasting beauty.

The chairman of the Villa d’Este Group, Giuseppe Fontana, stated:

we are delighted to host such an important event that enhances the incomparable beauty of our lake. Admiring these boats that are real works of art, going back to the jetties where they stood out over seventy years ago is an exceptional experience, which can only be enjoyed here at Villa d’Este

Danilo Zucchetti, the General Director of the Group, added:

this gathering tells the special, enduring, eternally classy bond between Villa d’Este and Lake Como

As a tangible proof of the hotel’s passion for what became the symbol of an era, Villa d’Este’s private collection features three boats included in ASDEC’s historical register, each unique and special: a “Lucia a remi” from 1971, built by Riva in Laglio; an “Abbate Villa d’Este Super” from 1961, and a “Vaporina Cranchi” from 1960.

These three enchanting pieces will be the stars of the day, where the participating boats will leave Bellagio and head towards Cernobbio, sailing close to architecture masterpieces like Villa del Balbianello, and then parade in front of the Villa d’Este hotel, where they will be docked to be admired in all their beauty.

With views that fascinate the whole world, Lake Como looks even more enchanting from a boat, especially if that boat has a story to tell, a story of passion, dedication, tradition and talent. We need to enhance and protect the cultural heritage of the Italian boating, and of our lake in particular

ASDEC’S chairman Fabio Malcovati said.
