TEFAF 2020 (The European Fine Art Fair) running in Maastricht from March 7 to 15 and directed by Patrick Van Maris Van Dijk, the event CEO until next May, will open to a variety of superior exhibitions and pieces, and to new attending participants.
At this hard time both for healthcare systems and economies all over the world, the TEFAF ‘ship’ keeps its course. An overall 280 exhibitors assigned to various sections, with TEFAF Antiques in the lead for the longest presence at the fair and the highest number of participants (98).
Other sections include TEFAF Modern (59), TEFAF Paintings (55), TEFAF Paper (23), and TEFAF Design (20), in addition to TEFAF Ancient Art, TEFAF Tribal, TEFAF La Haute Joaillerie, and TEFAF Showcase – the latter following the format first introduced in 2008: a limited number of emerging galleries, not relatable to a single exhibiting line and aiming to explore new areas of collecting. Five of these will be there in 2020: Caretto & Occhinegro (I), Galerie Fabienne Fiacre (F), Plektron Fine Art (CH), Runjeet Singh and Taffeta (GB).
TEFAF MAASTRICHT 2020. THE ITALIAN GALLERIES
A strong identity tied to antiques, which made the fair famous right from its birth in 1988, and over the decades turned it into the global temple of artistic beauty and knowledge, shaped by contemporary collecting trends edition after edition.
Twenty-five new participants will be attending the fair this year – almost 10% of the total. New additions will include Galleria Continua (with a solo show by Antony Gormley) and Enrico Ceci Cornici Antiche (plus Sprovieri’s comeback) from Italy, and Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Galerie Chastel-Maréchal, Galerie Jean-Christophe Charbonnier, Galerie Maria Wettegren, Lisson Gallery, and Wildenstein & Co. Inc. from abroad.
The 22 Italian galleries will also include Altomani & Sons, Alessandro Cesati, Alberto di Castro, Walter Padovani, Salamon, Maurizio Nobile, Galleria d’Arte Maggiore, Massimo De Carlo, Tornabuoni Arte, and more.
TEFAF AND MARKET
The TEFAF Art Market Report 2020 will explore art patronage in the third millennium: an investigation into the roles played by private individuals in the promotion of arts, with a special focus on the importance of contributions by millennials and post-millennials.
