Christmas gifts are sustainable. This was revealed by data from a survey by Veepee, the leading e-commerce site for sales-events in Europe.
The site wanted to investigate the habits and desires of Italian customers for this Christmas 2021.
After last year, in which Christmas was marked by lockdown and social distancing, the desire to feel the Christmas spirit has grown dramatically.
The new trend remains that of protecting the environment.
The numbers speak for themselves: according to the popular e-commerce portal, as many as 81% of buyers are willing to pay more for a gift as long as it is green and sustainable.
The unwrapped gifts
39% of buyers stated that they will give gifts, even luxurious ones, but that they are really targeted and useful to those who will receive them, thus avoiding any waste.
Precisely because of this new ecological awareness, 49% of respondents will give educational games to the little ones while 37% will opt for objects made with eco-friendly materials.
Luxury will be given but 30% will choose to embrace the second hand philosophy. Once again the tendency not to waste is reconfirmed.
The gift packages? Sustainable
24% of Christmas gifts this year will be wrapped with recycled paper.
The new eco-chic trend is also very interesting: it is Furoshiki, an ancient Japanese technique that consists in reusing fabrics to create exclusive gift packages.
The decorations will be anti-waste: 78% of the Italians interviewed will decide to reuse those of the past year and only 6% of the sample will be equipped with a natural tree.
However, even this small percentage has decided to respect nature: the fir will be placed outside to allow it not to alter its natural life cycle.
There is no Christmas without a table: there will be a display of kits, silver and refined crystals. Disposal is almost completely abandoned, chosen by only 8% of the sample.
Even the delicious dishes of the richest lunch of the year will be luxurious but sustainable. The choice of 62% will fall on artisanal products while 17% will delight their guests with Km0 products.
