London’s first elevated park, The Tide was inaugurated last July 5, when the first of its overall five kilometers was opened to the public.

The Tide is a circular elevated walkway on the Greenwich Peninsula, in the south-east of the British capital.

Designed by architecture studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro, creators of New York’s High Line, the walkway is built as a series of islands at 5 to 9 meters above the Thames where art, design and wellness meet.

In this elevated park, everyone will have a chance to stroll, run or relax while enjoying a view of the river, nature and the artworks set up along the path.

The Tide invites Londoners and tourists to promenade on wooden bridges and elevated terraces among water basins and native plants, meditate in dedicated areas along the way or work out at The Tide Clubhouse exercise studio while surrounded by giant sculptures, indigenous trees and spontaneous vegetation.

The first kilometer of the walkway was inaugurated at the Turning Tides Festival, with live performances by artists like Laura Mvula, Oumou Sangare and Sink the Pink and an exclusive art installation by Yoko Ono.
