They have always been surrounded in luxury, and their bright careers could have literally put the world at their feet. Yet there are celebrities who have chosen to devote their image and success to spread messages and champion the values that they themselves believe in first.
Let’s start from Leonardo Di Caprio: after reaching success, the actor we all loved in Titanic started flying the flag for a sustainable lifestyle.
In 1998, he established the Leonardo Di Caprio Foundation, a nonprofit association protecting the environment and wildlife that has filmed several documentaries about this in collaboration with National Geographic. As a United Nations Messenger of Peace, Di Caprio has also supervised the construction of (almost) zero-impact sustainable hotels and houses, and has been among the most prominent supporters of sustainable cars.
Next up is Ariana Grande: animal rights are her main focus. Not only has she decided to go vegan, but she has also worked as an ambassador to raise awareness of animal cruelty in intensive livestock farming, which is also responsible for much of the pollution and increase in fine particles.
Last, let’s not forget “green” star Brad Pitt. The actor has always been attentive to human rights, and has carried on important project on this matter through his Make It Right foundation.
Over the years, Pitt has never stopped helping others in sustainability ways: he built 150 affordable houses to host victims of hurricane Katrina, by constructing sustainable buildings with state-of-the-art water harvesting and recycling systems and solar panels made from pollutant-free materials.”
