Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, one of the iconic luxury hotelier brands of Hilton, announced the opening in Egypt Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis, 252 deluxe rooms and suites mix of modern elegance and local authenticity in a perfect location in the ancient city of Heliopolis and an oasis of tranquility set within beautiful botanical gardens.

Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis

Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis boasts ancient Egyptian references reinterpreted with a modern twist. Designed by London-based Adrian Barboza Design, the interiors are inspired by the Art Deco era and include references to Pharaonic arts, with a color palette consisting of greens and blues, warm wood tones and natural materials. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into an atrium with curved glass walls shaped like the eye of the god Ra; in the center, the iconic Waldorf Astoria clock, a feature of the brand’s hotels around the world, tells the time within two rings of flowing water, inspired by the Nile River and Pharaonic architecture.

Blue and white lotus flowers, believed to impart strength and power, often found in ancient Egyptian decorations, have been incorporated into the design and artwork of the rooms and suites. From hand-painted ceramics, velvet fabrics, and marble mosaic tiles to locally inspired artwork and carpets, each design element has been curated to reflect Egypt’s history and culture in comfort and luxury.

Four restaurants and bars welcome guests along with the Waldorf Astoria Spa and large event spaces, including six fully equipped meeting rooms and a magnificent ballroom.

Brasserie Ayda, with its elegant interior designed to resemble a Mediterranean garden, open kitchen, lively bar, and lovely terrace, is the hotel’s “signature” restaurant. The menu can be described as “Mediterranean without borders” and features share plates, creative cocktails with fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Peacock Alley, a signature lounge found in Waldorf Astorias around the world, is the ideal place for elegant and informal gatherings, where guests can enjoy specialty Arabic coffees and artisanal pastries, or delight in afternoon tea, expertly crafted cocktails and Egyptian meze.

In an atmosphere of yesteryear, Bar Raa, from the ancient Egyptian deity of the sun, offers an intimate and elegant setting. Jazz music and live performances set the perfect backdrop, while a menu full of shareable dishes, creative cocktails, and top-notch drinks invite guests to stay late into the night.

Poolside, with light and refreshing dishes, Le Jardin Pool Bar, a “secret garden” where guests can choose from Mediterranean fusion offerings and refreshing cocktails.

The Waldorf Astoria Spa, opening later this year, will feature a nature-inspired design and have four state-of-the-art treatment suites, each with a guest bathroom and private relaxation area, and a multifunctional treatment room. Guests will enjoy a full menu of facial and body treatments, including a traditional Hammam scrub experience. The spa also has Psammo Therapy treatment tables-or hot sand therapy, a tradition of the ancient Egyptians-in two suites.

Waldorf Astoria Cairo Heliopolis is part of the Hilton Honors, the award-winning guest loyalty program for Hilton’s hotel brands.
