On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Premio Penisola Sorrentina -Sorrentine Peninsula Award-, the writer Raffaele Lauro, General Secretary of Unimpresa, will intervene, among other authoritative speakers, at the conference, organized by the Director of the award, Mario Esposito, in collaboration with the Municipality of Sorrento and the Sorrento Foundation, on the theme “Environment, culture and tourism”, which will be held on Saturday 24 October, at 10.30, at the Municipal Palace of Sorrento.
The study day will be characterized by the publication and distribution, as a national preview, of a manifesto of principles and values, called “The Sorrento Charter”, which intends to promote, for the restart of the national and local economy, in particular of the tourism economy, integrated socio-economic systems anchored to sustainability and culture: a new development with a low ecological impact and a high cultural rate.

Lauro, awarded in 2019 the “Sorrento Peninsula Award” for his career, for his narrative work, will deepen, in particular, the comparison between Sorrento and Lanzarote, the eco-sustainable island of the Canary Islands, which hosted, in 1995, the ” World Conference on Sustainable Tourism “, where the” Charter of Lanzarote for sustainable tourism “was adopted and where, more recently, in 2017, during the year of sustainable tourism for development, the decisive international conference on “Sustainability: a key factor of competitiveness in the tourism industry”.
During the event, two official awards will be given to the journalist Antonino Siniscalchi, for his career, and to the environmental legality expert Luigi Cerciello Renna, as the inspirer and editor of the manifesto.
In relation to the health prevention measures envisaged, it is recommended to reserve a place to partecipate.
