On May 26th and 27th 2018 the “SANTELENA Marina in Venice”, 500 meters from the Arsenale, will host what promises to be a great celebration of sailing and traditional seafaring.
The Venturieri Association, founded in Chioggia in 1988 with the aim of spreading the culture of sailing, will organize the meeting of the 30th anniversary of its birth.
Participation will be open to boats of classic lines, even if not associated with Venturieri, with a length between 5 and over 15 meters, built in wood, metal or ferrocement. The public will be able to access the Marina Santelena to admire the boats at the mooring.
Two fleets will precede the meeting on May 25th navigating both from North and from South, meeting in Venice. A short conference will be organized on May 26th in memory of Gian Marco Borea d’Olmo at the Club House of the Yacht Club Venice. Borea d’Olmo was the founder of I Venturieri as well as the owner of Vistona, the historical auric cutter of 1937, still today perfectly navigating with whom he taught the art of sailing throughout the Mediterranean to generations of enthusiasts. In 30 years of history, thanks to the passion and resourcefulness of Borea d’Olmo, I Venturieri became known all over the world for their initiatives. Their strength is the spirit with which they have always organized school cruises and promoted the sailing culture of “travel”: boats that are solid, robust, marine and suitable to face long navigations in safety.
The event is sponsored by the FIV, Italian Sailing Federation, Tourism Promotion Consortium “Con Chioggia si”, Assonautica Venezia and sponsored by Banca della Marca, “Chioggia Yacht Group marine associate”, BCA Demco, Cecchi, Nauticagollo.com, Santelena Marina in Venice, Yacht Club Venezia.
