The 36th Edition kicks off today.
The 36th edition of the Gran Premio Nuvolari set off today from Piazza Sordello in Mantua — the international regularity rally for classic cars that brings together some of the most iconic and captivating models from motoring’s golden age, honouring the memory of the great Mantuan driver Tazio Nuvolari, a legendary sportsman whose feats wrote the history of world motorsport.
Behind the wheel of their vintage gems, 300 crews from all over the world will cover the newly revamped route of over 1,100 km, crossing the breath-taking landscapes of Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Marche, Umbria and the Republic of San Marino.

As per long-standing tradition, the number 1 will be symbolically reserved for the greatest driver of all time, the legendary Tazio Nuvolari. A selection of modern Gran Turismo cars will open the event, followed by the 260 classic cars arriving from every continent, representing 35 automotive brands. From Italian icons Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia, Ferrari and Fiat, to British names Jaguar, Aston Martin, Bentley and Triumph, from German manufacturers Mercedes, BMW and Porsche, to classic French models bearing the signature of Ettore Bugatti. This year, 80 pre-war cars (built between 1923 and 1939) will take part in the event.
The origins of the Gran Premio Nuvolari date back to 1954, when, on the initiative of the Mille Miglia organisers, an event was established in tribute to the great Mantuan champion, who passed away on August 11, 1953. To honour him, the Mille Miglia route was rerouted through Mantua, giving rise to a race within the race, designed to identify the fastest driver along the straights of the Po Valley, from Cremona to Brescia.
