According to the National Association of Cycle Motorcycle Accessories, over 1.7 million units of bicycles and e-bikes were sold in 2019, for a total value of 1.35 billion euros. Electric bicycles would be around 195,000 units and would have recorded an increase of 13% compared to the previous year.
Other data on a global scale, on the other hand, predict that the e-bike sector can grow steadily, from 2020 to 2025, by 6% every year.
Since this data does not go unnoticed in the sector, at the end of October Serial 1 Cycle Company – a new brand of Harley-Davidson, which last year also offered an electric motorcycle – unveiled the new Serial 1 e-bikes. It is available today to be pre-ordered, but only in the US and Germany.

The Serial 1 range allows Harley-Davidson to play a key role in this mobility revolution. At the same time, it allows Serial 1 to focus exclusively on the e-bike customer to offer an unparalleled driving experience, rooted in freedom and adventure
Featuring a frame and forks constructed from hydroformed aluminum welded to offer lightness and strength at the same time, the Enviolo Automatiq intelligent drive system, Gates Carbon Drive belt – which requires no maintenance – and hydraulic disc brakes, these bikes offer safe control and are designed to be comfortably driven on flat and rural roads.
The four Harley-Davidson Serial 1 models Available in four different models baptized as Mosh / Cty, Rush / Cty Step-Thru, Rush / Cty and Rush / Cty Speed, the most economical solution of the first Harley-Davidson e-bike is available from $ 3,399- $ 3,499 in Germany – and has a total weight of 21.9 kg.
Thanks to the integrated battery it allows you to travel up to 168 km depending on the mode of use and terrain. Each bicycle, in fact, allows you to activate four different modes: Eco to be used in favorable conditions, Tour for mixed routes, Sport for hilly ones and Boost to be used in any other unfavorable condition in which an additional boost is required.
All without lifting your hands from the handlebar, since the controls are arranged to be activated with the thumb and forefinger while driving. The most advanced model of the Harley-Davidson Serial 1, as well as the most expensive, will be available only in the United States at a price of $ 4,999. It is capable of assisting pedaling at speeds of up to 45km / h and can travel 185km on a full charge.
It mounts a 1.5-inch color display on which various information can be displayed. The same can be consulted through the dedicated smartphone app – which will arrive in spring -, including remaining range, mode in use, distance traveled and pedaling cadence.
